The Independent Police Complaints Commission has responsibility to conduct an investigation following incidents involving police officers where there may have been wrongdoing or misconduct. The IPCC can investigate a matter brought to it by a member of the public or a public body such as a police authority. The IPCC now has power to investigate a matter on its own initiative.
Amongst the incidents which could become the subject of investigations are deaths in custody and firearms incidents.
It is not just police officers who may be the subject of investigations but also police civilian staff such as Detention Officers and Police Community Support Officers and officers of H.M. Revenue & Customs.
Andrews Angel has great experience in representing individuals who are involved in I.P.C.C investigations as either suspects or witnesses and representing interested parties in subsequent prosecutions or connected Inquests where there has been a fatality.
